Make Your Own Hand Sanitizer

Isn't that cool?

Find the recipe here.

Let's Have a Moment of Silence...

So I live in a tiny, tiny town (for grad school). In a nutshell, I hate it here...and now I have, yet another, reason to.

I have had one place to buy fabric in this town, Walmart.

And they took it away...why? No idea, but the fabric section is gone now.

Now the closest place for me to get fabric is over an hour away.

Get me out of here!!!

Cupcake Stand (Tutorial #1!)

Here we go! My first tutorial a Cupcake Stand. We're doing cupcakes for our wedding and simple cardboard stands run $40-$60! So I decided to make my own for the grand total of $10.

First I started by drawing circles. Thank God Future DH wanted to keep this ginormous box from our TV we got for Christmas...of 2008!
Circles: sizes 26", 18", 14", and 10"
These will be the "dividers". They're ice cream bowls from Walmart ($1.96/each).

Gotta soak the stickers off...

Test run...I like it!

This is my 9 month old puppy...
...and this is what happens when he "helps". I have no idea how he got that circle around his body!

Time to paint!
...3 coats later on BOTH sides
Add ribbon detail...
and we're done! Well almost, I ran out of ribbon on the bottom tier.
It's definitely not perfect.

Mrs. Fix-It

This is my future DH...

and this is my garbage disposal...
and I love them both...

But! A month go the latter one broke and has been reeking a horrific smell throughout my house. Future DH "heard the motor burn out" and declared there was no fixing it. So we complain to our landlord and a month later, it's still not fixed.

Said garbage disposal

So I'm fed up. I start Googling "how to fix garbage disposal" determined this was going to be a day long project full of horrible smells of rotten food.

First video I come to - "first thing, check the reset button on the bottom of the disposal" ...WHAT?

See that little red button at the top left of the picture? That's the reset button.

Crisis diverted. Problem solved.

Challenge?

What a great way to start a new blog!

Taylor, from Mary Janes and Galoshes, posted about the The Five Dollar Challenge from Lindsay, from Living with Lindsay (whew that was a lot of linking). I think this would be a great way to get into the blogging community, so I'm in! I can't wait to get to my Dollar Tree!

Cupcakes!!!!

So we're doing cupcakes instead of a wedding cake. I have been looking and looking for cupcake "decor" that I liked and I FOUND it.

It's perfect for our strawberry cupcakes. I'm so excited!

Thanks to Craft Rookie for posting this and here is where you can get the recipe.

...bought supplies to build a cupcake tree so that tutorial will be coming soon!

Hooray!

The weekend is here! I feel some crafting coming on!

my new toy!

So look what I found at my GOODWILL store today! A Cricut Create! It was only $89 in the box. I was hesitant to buy it because I knew something was wrong with it (it looked like it had been returned to Walmart and Walmart sends lots of their stuff to our Goodwill). So I've been messing with it for awhile now and the only thing wrong with it I see is that they previous owner destroyed the cutting mat. It's covered in something red and fuzzy and is no longer sticky.

Anyways, I just taped the paper to the mat for now until I buy another mat.

I LOVE IT!!

I have to use it somehow for my wedding because I told (future) DH that I needed to buy it with the wedding budget (awful, I know, but $89!)

Sorry for the horrible pictures! They will be better next time!

Isn't it...

Another bonus! My (worst) class is canceled tomorrow! Whoo hoo!

In the beginning...

Hi everyone! My name is Emily and I am a craft addict. I'm 22 years old and am a Speech-Language Pathology graduate student...and I'm planning a wedding for this August! In a nutshell, I have no life, but any spare time I have I craft!

Once I get married, my new last name will be Love and I absolutely *love* that :) Hence, the name of the blog...it may be a little premature, but my fiance' and I already feel like we are the Love Family.

Speaking of family, here's ours:

That's me (Emily) and my fiance' (Chris)
We've been together since October 2006 and are getting married August 2010!

And our fur-children:

Panda

Sharpie

Jack (yes, he's a bunny, a 9 pound one at that)

and the newest addition...

Pongo!

Thank you for stopping by and keep checking back!
